I Wish They Taught Money in High School

…so I’m not dependent on my paycheck and I can start my own business right away! Seriously!

Earning, saving, investing and growing money is such an integral part of living and surviving in this world but how come we are never taught the basics about it? How come instead of approaching money in a way that is with much gusto, society is telling us not to talk about it? That it is evil and all?

I am so glad Lifestyle Upgrade 101 sent me this 2-in-1 book. I have been enlightened.

The most logical way (for me, anyway!) to read the back-to-back book is to read the I Wish They Taught Money In High School So I’m Not Dependent On My Paycheck by Clarissa Serina – De La Paz first. I basically devoured all the 81 pages. It’ll teach you:

  1. That the first step to becoming rich is free, because it’s all in the mind.
  2. Easy-to-understand definition of common finance/money jargon.
  3. The power of passive income.
  4. The importance of paying yourself first. {Income – Savings Investments = Expenses}
  5. The 3 Money Myths (money is taboo, debt is bad, credit cards are evil).
  6. How to work SMART. S – Start Small. M – Make a Habit (and stick to it!). A – Acquire More Knowledge. R – Raise the Bar of Creativity. T – Think Outside Your Salary.
  7. That the most powerful secret of all is gratitude (count your blessings!).
  8. To use a Millionaire’s Log, a Dream Compass, an Inventory of your Rations, a Money Map, and a Gratitude Anchor as your navigational tools on your own journey towards financial freedom.

The author also mentioned Robert Kiyosaki (author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad), Napoleon Hill (author of Think and Grow Rich), and Tim Ferris (author of The 4-hour Work Week).

The next I read is the I Wish They Taught Money In High School So I Can Start My Own Business Right Away by Sharon Que. I was pretty excited to finish reading all the 58 pages so I can start planning out in detail (right away!) my small business idea. This book will teach you:

  1. First and foremost, to not shy away from initiating money talk (like asking someone if they have a lot of money, yes!).
  2. How to prepare for business.
  3. How to start a business with little or no capital.
  4. How to multiply your income with other businesses.
  5. Tips on overcoming challenges and finding solutions.
  6. To upgrade your money psyche.
  7. To grow your money in investment vehicles.

I love this 2-in-1 book because it taught me A LOT and it didn’t give me a headache at that. Heh.

Oh and the book has got awesome illustrations, too! ❤

Le Posh Blvd Eau de Toilette in Green Tea and Satin

Perfumes have been one of my long time indulgences for myself. I’m kind of picky with the scents that I wear and I’m always inclined to buying signature perfumes. But with our budget being more limited now than when I was single, I decided I’d settle for basic scents with a price tag that won’t hurt our budget. I figured I just really want a fresh, clean, simple, and crisp scent I can wear everyday to school. Plus a feminine and sophisticated scent I can wear for special occasions.

When I was browsing online shopping sites to buy a few toiletries for myself a couple of weeks ago, I came across Le Posh Blvd.

Le Posh Blvd. is a unique brand that creates natural bath & body skincare and fragrance products for men, women, teens and the home. Our products have drawn inspiration from the Mediterranean, to create natural beauty products devoted to well-being and the pleasure of loving oneself by FEELING GOOD, LOOKING GOOD, and SMELLING GOOD.

Being committed to delivering quality products, Le Posh Blvd. strives to use high quality traceable natural ingredients and plant oils. Product formulas are developed according to the principles of plant therapy, scent therapy, and ideal standard requirements. Paper, cardboard, and wood used in our packaging comes from sustainable managed forests. We continually contribute not only to the well-being of our customers and employees but also in making planet earth a “green” one.

Le Posh Blvd. was founded in September of the year 2008 and has always prided itself on the innovation, quality and performance of its products. Crafted by Haidian Fragrant Hills Ltd. Co.

I clicked straight to their products list to see what they have to offer. Their Green Tea EDT and Satin EDT immediately caught my attention.

Green Tea is a beautiful fragrance for women.  Fresh scents of citrus & lemon mix with rhubarb, peppermint, oakmoss, musks and amber.  Spritz green tea in the morning for an instant burst of energy that will last through long meetings at work and lunches out with friends.

Satin is a sensual, classic, delicious signature perfume for  adventurous but classy women who has strong character & likes to enjoy life at the same time.   Subtle blend of fruits (mandarin and peach), woods, and dry florals that ends with a base of vanilla, amber & musk. A fragrance that lets the wearer speak volumes about themselves.

And the good thing is, every 50ml bottle only costs Php299! Quality and affordable scents! Seems exactly like the scents I was looking for!

And as you can see, I’ve already used almost half the content of the bottles. They’re THAT addictive to spritz on though their scents last for about 8hours and linger on your clothes even after 24hours. That’s how long-lasting it is! Totally worth my money! I’ll be using these scents over and over again! Heh. 🙂

The Tokyo Love Soap Promise

Personal Experience

I’m currently using the Tokyo Love Soap Girls. I’ve been using it for 6 days already.

1st Use: I left it for just about 3 minutes in fear of allergic reactions. My friends said that they felt an itching sensation which lasted for about 10 minutes after using the soap. Surprisingly, I didn’t feel an itching feeling at all. In the succeeding days I left it for about 5 minutes. I experienced micro-peeling on my elbows and knees. My skin feels very smooth after using it especially the face and shoulder area. My facial pores are more refined and I noticed that I have less white heads now.

Hayan Korea Moisture Lip Balm & Juicy Lip Gloss

I love lip products, especially lip balms. I cannot leave the house without swiping on a lip balm. I use it alone or under my Excel Paris Matte Lip Creme in Nude (505).

Anyway, a couple of days ago I received a parcel! Since I’m a big fan of anything Korean — I love KPop, I love Korean films, I love Kimchi, I sport Korean clothing brands, and I love Etude House — I was really in awe when I opened the package and I saw Korean beauty products inside! Big thanks to Hayan Korea for sending these over! 🙂

Hayan Juicy Lip Gloss in Strawberry & Hayan Moisture Lip Balm in Cherry

Packaging: ♥♥♥♥ (I love the packaging of the lip gloss but not much for the lip balm. The lip balms don’t have a difference in the packaging so you really can’t tell which flavor is which unless you smell them.)

Scent: ♥♥♥♥♥ (I looooooove the scent of both the lip gloss and the lip balm! <3.)

Price: ♥♥♥♥♥ (So affordable for beauty junkies on a budget.)

  • Hayan Korea Moisture  Lip Balm in Strawberry ~ Php80
  • Hayan Korea Moisture Lip Balm in Cherry ~ Php80
  • Hayan Korea Juicy Lip Gloss in Strawberry ~ Php135

Customer Service: ♥♥♥♥♥ (Polite and replies quickly to inquiries.)

With Hayan Lip Balm in Cherry

With Hayan Moisture Lip Balm in Cherry

The cherry lip balm has a nice tint, a cross between red and pink. The color is not too much but not too light either. It’s just right, which to me, is perfect.

The strawberry lip gloss is so shiny and the consistency is not too thick. I love it. ❤ Sorry, I’m not so good in taking selfie photos yet. 🙂

Some of the products they offer.

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky

Challenging the borders and limitations of ‘freedom’ and ‘righteousness’, Rasholnikov, the paradoxical protagonist of this novel, is a student in 19th century poverty-ridden St. Petersburg who rationalizes that a single evil deed could be justified if the betterment of the many is the main motive. Thus he murders an old pawn-broker and her peasant sister, robs the old woman of her possessions and deems himself as another Napoleon who could bring about drastic change upon the society through a single unacceptable deed and as such, is deserving even of a commendation.

Probing upon the dark recesses of the mind, this book gnaws upon the murky possibilities that whirl in the human subconscious and all the logical explanations that one could afford to weave for the sake of rationalizing a thing or a deed that is otherwise wicked and impermissible in reality. One of the Russian classics published during the later half of the 19th century, Crime and Punishment winds upon the dismal void of the mind, the propriety of being a person who yields to the rules of society and the indistinct line through which a person treads when he is in the brink of deciding whether to follow such rules or elude them.

Ilustrado by Miguel Syjuco

A dead body from the frozen Hudson River. A lost manuscript of a long anticipated novel. Trails of unrest, struggle, and the unthinkable angle of suicide.

The story starts upon Crisostomo, a deranged writer who became the mentor of young Miguel, an aspiring writer budding upon the walls of American Universities. Dissatisfied with suicide as the evident explanation for the death of his mentor, Miguel goes back to the Philippines to dig and unravel the true reasons behind the mysterious death of his dear teacher.

This book will lead you back to the labyrinthine outskirts of society in the Philippines, from the chivalrous era of the 1800’s until the oppressive epoch of of the Martial law and the evidently masked corruption and venality of the past administrations. Woven into the intricate patterns of nationalistic sentiments are the sardonic realities of modern day social castes and the bitter actualities of families and the acrimonious fate that befalls a daughter who never had a glimpse of the man who fathered her.

A winner of the Man Asia Literary Award, this book ends with the subtle taste of mystery and rhetoric that, like Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere, leaves readers contemplating about the realities of being a Filipino and what could possibly be done about the bitter aftertaste of the truth.
