I Wish They Taught Money in High School

…so I’m not dependent on my paycheck and I can start my own business right away! Seriously!

Earning, saving, investing and growing money is such an integral part of living and surviving in this world but how come we are never taught the basics about it? How come instead of approaching money in a way that is with much gusto, society is telling us not to talk about it? That it is evil and all?

I am so glad Lifestyle Upgrade 101 sent me this 2-in-1 book. I have been enlightened.

The most logical way (for me, anyway!) to read the back-to-back book is to read the I Wish They Taught Money In High School So I’m Not Dependent On My Paycheck by Clarissa Serina – De La Paz first. I basically devoured all the 81 pages. It’ll teach you:

  1. That the first step to becoming rich is free, because it’s all in the mind.
  2. Easy-to-understand definition of common finance/money jargon.
  3. The power of passive income.
  4. The importance of paying yourself first. {Income – Savings Investments = Expenses}
  5. The 3 Money Myths (money is taboo, debt is bad, credit cards are evil).
  6. How to work SMART. S – Start Small. M – Make a Habit (and stick to it!). A – Acquire More Knowledge. R – Raise the Bar of Creativity. T – Think Outside Your Salary.
  7. That the most powerful secret of all is gratitude (count your blessings!).
  8. To use a Millionaire’s Log, a Dream Compass, an Inventory of your Rations, a Money Map, and a Gratitude Anchor as your navigational tools on your own journey towards financial freedom.

The author also mentioned Robert Kiyosaki (author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad), Napoleon Hill (author of Think and Grow Rich), and Tim Ferris (author of The 4-hour Work Week).

The next I read is the I Wish They Taught Money In High School So I Can Start My Own Business Right Away by Sharon Que. I was pretty excited to finish reading all the 58 pages so I can start planning out in detail (right away!) my small business idea. This book will teach you:

  1. First and foremost, to not shy away from initiating money talk (like asking someone if they have a lot of money, yes!).
  2. How to prepare for business.
  3. How to start a business with little or no capital.
  4. How to multiply your income with other businesses.
  5. Tips on overcoming challenges and finding solutions.
  6. To upgrade your money psyche.
  7. To grow your money in investment vehicles.

I love this 2-in-1 book because it taught me A LOT and it didn’t give me a headache at that. Heh.

Oh and the book has got awesome illustrations, too! ❤
